About

The Background

My official name is Dr Stephanie Durant but to most I'm known as Steph or Essie. I have been given many nicknames over my lifetime and I will respond to most things I'm called!

I trained as a medical doctor at The University of Nottingham in the UK, graduating in 2013. There was always something missing in my life, however, and after completing my foundation years (internship/housemanship/junior residency) I realised that I wanted to follow a different path to pursue my other passions in life.

​

The next few years saw me training as a professional SCUBA diving instructor, ESL teacher, eco-lodge employee, nature guide, mentor... the list goes on! Two things remained constant: my love of languages and my love for teaching.

​

I am now extremely fortunate to be able to merge all of my passions together! I love teaching English and Bahasa Malaysia (Malay) and also the finer, less structured parts of being a healthcare professional.
